Everybody needs to buy a house that brings happiness, peace and positive vibes while staying in it. It is supposed that a home that obeys Vaastu Shastra norms, brings good fortune to its inhabitants. Vaastu is all about harmonising the ideas of engineering, optics, acoustics and spirituality. Given below are five significant rules that home searchers can check, to determine if the property they mean to buy imitates to the basic Vaastu philosophies.
Rakesh Patekar, project head, of Elysium Abodes, points out that some instructions have positive impacts, while others may have a bad impact on the occupants of the house. “According to Vaastu, east and north-facing plots are suitable for the construction of homes. Care should be taken while devious houses face west or south direction,” adds Patekar.
Rule 2: The form of the plot should be square or rectangular
Experts suggest that the shape of the plot, on which the house is built, should be square or rectangular, facing directly on the four cardinal directions. Preferably, the ratio between the length and the breadth of the construction should be 1:1 or 1:1.5 or a maximum up to 1:2. “Home buyers must avoid plots whose shape is irregular, oval, circular, triangular, or if any of the corners in the north, east, south or west are lost. A plot with four corners and in a square shape is best, subject to obedience with other norms of Vaastu,” clarifies Vikash Sethi, CEO and founder, of A2ZVastu.com.
Rule 3: Form of the building/structure should obey with Vaastu norms
Vaastu places emphasis on the "Shermukhi" and "Gaumukhi" shapes because they determine the general prosperity and wellbeing of those living in a property. A Shermukhi home shape is broad at the entrance and narrow at the back, whereas a Gaumukhi shape is narrow at the point of entry and broad at the back. Shermukhi is appropriate for commercial properties, whilst Gaumukhi is thought to be beneficial for household purposes. Similarly, expanded corners are not thought to be appropriate for residential properties (save for those on the northeast). Rule 4: A house's interior design and colour scheme should follow.
Dark colours such as black emit negative energy. Therefore, try to avoid dark colours on your home’s walls, furniture, floors, etc. Light colours like pink, yellow, orange, etc., emit positive energy and can be used in the home interiors, as per the direction of the built area. For example, orange colour is appropriate for the dining area and cream colour for the master bedroom (in the southwest).
Rule 5: Assignment of objects in the house
Patekar adds, “There are few instructions under Vastu when it comes to the assignment of furniture items/objects:
• The bed should always be in the southwest direction of the bedroom.
• Shoe racks should also be located in the southwest direction.
• The dining table should always be connected in the northwest part of the dining room.
• While perusing, children should face the north direction.”
The arrangement of rooms such as kitchens, bathrooms, stairways, and the main door, which shouldn't be in the south or south-west direction, should also be taken into consideration by home purchasers. Finally, in order to reap the benefits of Vastu, home buyers should make sure that the five elements are in appropriate balance.
