Inviting the Goddess of Wealth: Laxmi Puja 2023 – Date, Muhurat, Legend and Benefits
Laxmi Puja is an auspicious Hindu religious festival observed on the third day of the Diwali festival period. The festival is dedicated to Goddess Laxmi, who is worshipped as the goddess of wealth, prosperity, fortune, luxury, and beauty. According to Hindu mythology, Laxmi emerged from the water along with the nectar during the churning of the ocean done by the Gods and Demons. Goddess Laxmi is also the wife of Lord Vishnu. It is believed that any ritual or puja is incomplete without the worship of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha. Before any auspicious venture, praying to Lord Ganesh and Goddess Lakshmi for success and prosperity is customary.

In 2023, Laxmi Puja falls on Sunday, November 12, 2023. The Muhurat for Lakshmi Puja is from 06:11 p.m to 08:15 p.m, and the duration is two hours and four minutes. The Pradosh Kaal is from 05:59 p.m to 08:26 p.m, and the Vrishabha Kaal is from 06:11 p.m to 08:15 p.m. The Amavasya Tithi starts at 02:44 p.m on November 12, 2023, and ends at 02:56 p.m on November 13, 2023.

It Is believed that conducting Laxmi Puja ensures a peaceful and harmonious family life, removes obstacles and negativity in personal and professional life, resolves all financial issues, helps one achieve success in all ventures of life, blesses one with beauty and intelligence, and gives one power, success and prosperity.

Lakshmi Puja is observed in many parts of the country since it is believed that Diwali marks the celebration of Goddess Lakshmi’s wedding with Lord Vishnu. Hence, some celebrate the day as the blissful union of the two protectors of the universe. Some legends also say that Goddess Laxmi was born on the new moon day of Kartik. That is why we celebrate the day as Laxmi Puja.

The basic puja requirements for Laxmi Puja are keeping the house spotlessly clean, since Goddess Laxmi prefers cleanliness. This is also one of the reasons why the broom is worshipped in some places that day with turmeric and vermilion. It is also marked by lighting Diyas and lamps all over the house in the evening. It is believed that the Diyas light up the path and make it easy for Goddess to enter into the house.

Moreover, Mahalakshmi Vrat is another auspicious occasion that falls a few days before Laxmi Puja. In 2023, Mahalakshmi Vrat will be observed on November 8, Monday. The day is dedicated to Goddess Laxmi and fasting during this day is believed to bring prosperity, wealth, good luck, and happiness to the devotees.

Conducting Lord Vishnu Puja on Laxmi Puja is also considered auspicious. Worshipping Lord Vishnu is believed to bring peace, prosperity, and happiness in the devotee’s life. Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe and Lord of Lakshmi, is worshipped on the same day.

Puja is an opportune day to seek the blessings of Goddess Laxmi and Lord Vishnu for good fortune, wealth, prosperity, and success. The day signifies the importance of hard work, dedication, and devotion. By following the basic puja requirements and observing the rituals, one can welcome the Goddess of wealth into their home and seek her blessings.
