KDMC Warns Developers: Display Construction Permissions or Face Action

In a bold move to safeguard home buyers and uphold transparency in the construction sector, the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has launched a groundbreaking initiative. Aligning with new state government guidelines, developers in Kalyan-Dombivli are now legally bound to prominently exhibit project-related information on boards outside their construction sites.

The directive, aimed at fostering transparency and accountability, requires developers to showcase crucial details such as building permission numbers, architect credentials, structural engineer particulars, land specifics, and other pertinent project data. The KDMC has set a strict deadline of three days for developers to comply with this mandate, warning of repercussions for non-compliance.

This proactive measure comes amidst persistent challenges posed by illegal constructions in areas like Dombivli, Titwala, and the 27 villages within KDMC limits. Despite previous crackdowns by the KDMC against unauthorized constructions, numerous home buyers, especially those seeking affordable housing options, have been duped by unscrupulous developers. Shockingly, some developers have resorted to forging Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Maha RERA) certificates and other permission-related documents to facilitate the sale of flats in illegal buildings.

Disha Sawant, the additional director of the town planning department at KDMC, underscored the significance of this initiative, stating, "By enforcing the display of project details, we are empowering home buyers to make informed decisions. This step allows them to verify the legality of a project by cross-referencing the information on the board with data available on KDMC’s Town Planning department permission page."

In a landscape marred by deceit and exploitation, KDMC's proactive stance sets a new precedent in ensuring the rights and safety of home buyers, while heralding a new era of transparency and accountability in the construction sector.
